Shepherd's Flock Kindergarten

Kindergarten: A 5-day per week program that runs 3 hours every weekday; morning session runs 8:30 to 11:30 and afternoon session runs 12:30 to 3:30. Children must be 5 by September 15th of the school year; children must be toilet trained and capable of taking care of their own personal needs. Class size is limited to 14 students.

The ELC Kindergarten is a preparation for first grade. The ELC kindergarten program is an excellent alternative to any parochial or public kindergarten program and is designed to stand on it’s own; however, it can be used in conjunction with other programs (i.e. children could be enrolled in the ELC Kindergarten for one half of the school day and another kindergarten program for the other half of the day).

Tuition is charged monthly, September through May. Our Kindergarten programs start just after Labor Day and end at the same time as the West Des Moines Public Schools. There is a supply fee for this program which is paid at registration time; this fee covers all consumables for the school year, from tissues to art supplies – everything is furnished by the school. Enrollment for the Kindergarten is expected to be maintained for the entire school year, and is budgeted as such. Please do not enroll if you know your family is moving mid-year. In order to ensure that Kindergarten enrollments are serious, a non-refundable deposit of the September and May tuition plus the supply fee is required at registration.

Our ELC preschool children have first choice for enrollment for the coming school year; this means 108 students are eligible for 28 kindergarten spots. If any openings are available after registration in January, we will contact persons on the Waiting List in the order in which they were placed on the List to set up Parent Tours. A Parent Tour is required before enrollment is allowed in any ELC program.

All ELC programs have a non-refundable $100.00 supply fee which is paid at registration.  In addition, Kindergarten tuition for September and May is paid upon registration and is also non-refundable for any reason.
