Do you have a mission? What plan does God have for you? SOTV helps support LCMS missionaries in countries across the world, including here in the United States. Information is provided about one of these missionaries every week in the weekly bulletin. Missionaries and their families need our support financially, and they truly need our prayers and encouragement. They are on the front lines serving our Lord in places like Africa, Eurasia, China, Korea and other locations around the world. The mission committee would like to encourage SOTV members to consider supporting a missionary by filling out a Missionary Adoption Form, by praying for a missionary, or by corresponding with a missionary by e-mail or letter. These servants of our Lord love to correspond with people in the states, knowing that we care and are praying for them and their families.
There is also mission work being done right here in our local area. In John 21:15-17, Jesus spoke with his disciples concerning love and service. Here Jesus instructed Peter concerning his ministry and motives as a church leader. The crucial point of this passage was that Jesus was highlighting Peter's responsibility of feeding and caring for Jesus' sheep. Peter's love for Jesus would be essential to the task. SOTV missions is working with such organizations as the AGAPE Pregnancy Center, Hope Ministries and Prison Ministries. We don't have to look far to find ways to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our main purpose is always to bring the “Good News of Jesus Christ” to people all around the world! Jesus is our only hope of salvation. In John 14:6, He said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” The Holy Spirit will work through us if we are willing. The Lord's servants are bringing the Gospel message to people around the world. If anyone is interested in being involved with SOTV missions, please contact Jim Fehl at [email protected]. Plans are also in place for adults to go on mission trips throughout the year.
